       I am attaching a photo of my grandfather. This is the earliest I have found. I believe it was taken in the early 1920's.

 

His name is Mayer (Meir) Zelmanovitz (Zelmanovitch, Zalmanovitch) and he was born in Papile (Popel), Lithuania around 1889. According to records, his family has been found in Pasvalys, Pakruojis and in Vabalninkas. The name may have also been Zebel (Sebel) or Shlomowicz (Schlomowitz).

 

His father's name was Morris and his mother's name was Sara (Sarah). Her maiden name was Yeace. They were farmers. He had many siblings including a brother named Mendel. The family was originally from Poland. Please contact me privately, if you know this family.
